House of 1000 Corpses

Musician turned director Rob Zombie's first feature length film is the twisted story of two young couples on a cross country trip through America documenting the strange and bizarre things you see on such a trip. While expecting all sorts of weird and wonderful sights nothing could prepare them for the hell that awaited them at the sadistic Firefly household to which they become imprisoned.
Disturbing, shocking and psychotic characters make up the Firefly family; Baby Firefly with her sweet innocent front masking a sadistic murderous core and Otis who, well he just looks crazy from the start and as it turns out he's not just crazy he's more psychotic than Jason, Freddy, Leather face and Michael Myers combined.
From the moment the young couples are captured you know things are'nt going to turn out well for them. The movie has a similar theme to Texas Chainsaw Massacre in that its a group of young teenagers trapped and killed in a house by a murderous blood loving family, only Zombie takes the murderous blood loving to the edge and then past it. Towards the end the movie takes a twisted turn into a more fantasy type of horror with the whole Dr Satan character and his legion of mental patients turned monsters.
The only advice I have before watching this movie is if you don't like blood and violence don't watch it! but if you do, then your in for a treat!
This movie has a sequel, The Devils Rejects, which is shot in a completely different style to this movie. It follows the story of the Fireflys as the hunters become the hunted.

Good review, welcome to Orble.
I didn't mind House of 1000 Corpses as a tribute to 70's explotation. The low budget adds to the grime but it always remains outlandish letting you know it isn't real.
The sequel Devils Rejects was a definite improvement though, high enery, grindhouse entertainment that takes no prisoners, the comedy really works in this one better..

Stay tuned, I am on a bit of a Rob Zombie roll/theme at the moment because of Halloween's release (today!), so a Devils Rejects review is next....
