The Go Getter achieved official selection at the sundance film festival in 2007 and that is about all that it had to recommend it to me when I picked it up. It is the story of 19 year old Mercer's(Lou Taylor Pucci, you might know him from Thumsucker then again you might not) journey across America in a car he has stolen from kate(Zooey Deschanel, Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy) in order to find his long lost half brother. His brother is only part of the story though, the main narrative focuses on the relationship that is built up over the phone between Mercer and the very forgiving Kate.
There is nothing exciting or enthralling about The Go-Getter but it is a nice movie with a nice story and a nice cast that will keep you going. It is not by any means boring but it is also one of those movies that you are going to have to be satisfied with very little happening. It is a movie about emotions and relationships, not a chick flick but definitely not a movie for guys who like their action heroes. Me, I like a little bit of everything and I especially like a movie that throws me a curve ball and this movie did that for me and it did it without shocking twists or surprise endings it is a simple movie with something to say.
