TV Shows Past & Present Turned into Movies

The ones who got it right
As a child my brother was into the Transformers, I was more of a Rainbow Brite, Strawberry Shortcake girl. So when the Transformers movie came out I was’nt excited.
Upon seeing the movie I was pleasantly surprised. I thought the movie was just about a bunch of robots who transformed and didn’t know how or if it could work.
The movie was not only funny but felt true to the original cartoon version, even a bit playful. When they worked the line "More than meets the eye" in it was brilliant. It was entertaining and nostalgic in a way. The only weak point was the love interest story line, but someone pointed out you need eye candy in a movie and I except that.
This is a great example of a how a TV show turned into a movie can work, you didn’t have to see nor like the original show to enjoy the movie. It was a different spin on something already familiar to most of the audience. When a re-make of something makes you want to re-visit the original, the movie makers have tapped into something rare when it come to these types of movies.
Now if only they could leave it there and not ruin it like the Batman movies by making sequel after sequel. Some movie makers can’t seem to stop when they think their onto something good. Something is good because it works at the time and that doesn’t necessarily mean it will work again.
